'F1 2012' launch trailer shows grit and glamour

Blazing off the starting grid is F1 2012's launch trailer, offering an adrenaline-soaked snippet of the Formula One game that released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC this week.

In truth, F1 2012 doesn't have much competition this year as a more realistic racing sim -- at least, not on consoles, anyhow.

Even Milestone's October offering, WRC 3, is served up on the grit and stone of the rally racing circuit.

Of the rest, even Forza Horizon offers a casual twist on its parent franchise, and fellow October release Need for Speed: Most Wanted is more about the rough and tumble of metal on metal.

At the other end of the scale, November games LittleBigPlanet Karting and the F1 studio's sister project F1 Race Stars huddle up with the cartoon style of Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed.
